Salvation
Someone recently inquired as to my salvation again. Such questions always have me asking more questions. What particular salvation is it they speak of? Everyone seems to focus on being certain nothing bad will happen to them after they kick the bucket. What about normal everyday peace of mind which doesn't require such speculations on the afterlife?(And they are speculations. I mean really, it appears to my humble thought processes that everything about our faith is an attempt to understand deeper mysteries, on levels we are able to somewhat grasp.) It all seems like a process to me. Salvation is not being artificially separated from that process.
God is indeed good to us.(All of us.)

Church
People ask me why I have started going to church again. Usually I don't have a "good" answer to give them at the time. In this post I will attempt to explain.
It started out because someone I found myself caring about deeply seemed to get so much from the experience.
There appears to me to be something powerful in coming together to acknowledge a higher power. It is impossible to come together alone. I could sit here in meditation for hours on end, and never achieve the same thing.
Do I believe exactly as those I share this experience with each Sunday? No. In fact I imagine they would be quite shocked to hear that I believe the Bible is man's attempt at understanding a great mystery. Is it from God? Yes. Everything is from God. God reveals itself within our cultural context. What other way would "He"?
It would be very easy for me to sit at home and say, "I have nothing in common with these people."(As I did for many years.) The truth is we are all looking both upwards, and within.
